My research examines social cognition and health, with an emphasis on the effects of causal attributions on health and well-being following a disease/illness diagnosis. My work has examined the impact of attributional style on physical and mental health among patients with cardiovascular disease. I also study how behavioral and characterological self-blame attributions predict adjustment following a cardiac event among patients in cardiac rehabilitation, and among patients following a diagnosis of cancer. A second line of research involves examining how poverty and stress influence physical and mental health outcomes.
